Alexander Laurenzi

History, Class of 2020

I’m a History major with a certificate in African American Studies.

Role(s) held in the Humanistic Studies Program:

Certificate Student

Activities on campus:

PU Jazz Ensembles, Princeton Katzenjammers

Why I decided to study the humanities:

I wanted to study literature, history, arts, and philosophy in one place, and the Humanities Sequence’s interdisciplinary approach allowed me to do so.

What I have gained from the humanities:

Studying the humanities continues to help me identify commonalities between what may seem like otherwise widely contrasting subjects.

HUM Sequence fall break trip:

I went on the Greece trip with Professor Morrison and Professor Eich in fall 2017. My independent work focused on the cultural presence of rebetiko music in mainstream Greece and the influences of Turkish folk traditions on Greek music.
