This year the Program in Humanistic Studies is proud to award 17 certificates to seniors from 11 different departments. The certificate program provides a platform for students to explore new perspectives within their home discipline while building bridges to others.
The program was able to offer many students the opportunity for international travel and research and project funding and enriched their Princeton experience with interdisciplinary conversations along the way.
Despite the most challenging of circumstances, the graduating seniors have proven excellence in their fields of study and submitted an impressive array of theses. These include the legal and philosophical study of refugee protection regulations in Europ; understanding Arab intellectual history through art; slavery, childrearing, and education in the Roman Empire; and Black feminism and literature in Martinique and Senegal.
See all of their thesis topics in the booklet below, and please join us in congratulating the passionate, the resilient, the brilliant class of 2020!
